Bahare Photos has notified us as follows:

We are running a photography exhibition that show cases differences in Cuban and Canadian children’s daily lives. Also with help of UNICEF the exhibition will raise funds to help children across the world.

It would be a pleasure to have the Cuban community  to join us either for the opening or throughout the exhibition which runs from July 5 – 11, 2012.

The opening is on July 5, from 6:30 pm – 9:30 pm at Queen gallery: 382 Queen Street East  Toronto, ON M5A 1T1

Drawing on the skills of three of Toronto’s most accomplished frontmen (vocalists Yani Borrell, Alberto Alberto and Angel Luis Marquez) and lead by music director/pianist Jorge Betancourt, the band features some of Toronto’s finest musicians from such famous Cuban groups as Adalberto Alvarez y su Son and Cubanisimo.

ADMIN OPINION:

Cuban reggaeton artists Cola Loka have made a statement to the effect that reggaeton is a big phenomenon… but it’s not music, timba is music .

But now we do see cubaton singers touring with large bands and musical arrangements that are becoming “musical”.

Recent shows this weekend in Toronto highlight the difference… Gente d’Zona with a full band at the Opera House while Chacal (not including Yakarta/PMM) offered the traditional reggaeton singer alone in the spotlight.

We can only say we hope there is more music and less phenomenon in the future
