Join us to celebrate the release of Evaristo’s independently produced CD, ‘Siempre Que Llueve…’ (After the Rain). This CD showcases Evaristo’s roots in Cuban Trova, a style for singer-songwriters who accompany themselves on the guitar. This is a collection of poetic songs that focus on the lyrics, both personal and political, drawn from his experiences in Italy, Canada and of course, his native Cuba. Evaristo has gathered an all-star band to present these songs that layer the Trova style with rock, urban, reggae and Afro-Cuban rhythms. Come out and enjoy some great music and help us toast the official release of this exciting CD.

Desde su primera presentación en esta ciudad en el 2006, el autor de UNA PALABRA, GUILLERMO TELL, COMO LOS PECES, FOTO DE FAMLIA, GRAFFITI DE AMOR y HABANAME, ha recibido cada año una efusiva recepción por el público local, que sin importarle el día de la semana o los grados bajo cero, ha asistido reiteradamente para vitorear junto a su ídolo y hacer de cada concierto un suceso inolvidable.

Varela cuenta con una sólida trayectoria musical que incluye ocho álbumes de estudio y un gran número de colaboraciones. Sus canciones han sido interpretadas por las voces de Joaquín Sabina, Miguel Bosé, Ana Belén, Silvio Rodriguez, Pablo Milanés, Francisco Céspedes y Luis Enrique, entre otros. Drawing on the skills of three of Toronto’s most accomplished frontmen (vocalists Yani Borrell, Alberto Alberto and Angel Luis Marquez) and lead by music director/pianist Jorge Betancourt, the band features some of Toronto’s finest musicians from such famous Cuban groups as Adalberto Alvarez y su Son and Cubanisimo.
