The story of Lizt Alfonso has many ingredients: the determination of the founder to present dance with highest classically based standards… but with the impact of the Cuban spirit. The school that is legend in Cuba for openness as an educational alternative to any young girl who shows ability. And the touring international company that draws standing ovations everywhere: like they did last year at the intimate Markham Theatre in the Toronto area.
This year, it’s worth the drive to Mississauga Wed Mar 2… Niagara Sat Mar 5… or Welland Sunday Mar 6.
Today, more than 12 years later, the company’s latest work is a combination of folkloric Cuban
and Spanish dance traditions, Afro-Cuban style rhythms, and Petipa ballets.
