Finally it’s here… new date, new friends… King Bombó is the new music project of Telmary Diáz … (Écha!) ….and Alberto Alberto.  Born in January at Lula Lounge, the “quimbombó” was already very tasty.  It should be ripe and sabroso by these next dates.

The group seems to be becoming an ongoing party of talented friends.. a kind of “Toronto Abierto” mixed with “Interactivo en Canada“!

There is a recent article by Errol Nazareth of the CBC published in the Sun, click here to read.

Of course… it’s at Lula Lounge.

At the Lula date, featured musicians will include jazz and classical fusion pianist Glenda Escalante del Monte and Cuba’s most famous electric guitarist Elmer Ferrer.

Basing their repertoire on music from Telmary’s award winning CD ‘A Diario’
KingBombo Habana also cover material from groups such as Gema y Pavel,
Havana Abierta and Interactivo – groups that have been modernizing cuban
music, through the fusion of cuban genres such as timba and afro-Cuban with
the international trends of hip hop and funky jazz

KingBombo Habana is a revolving line-up of the best performers from
Toronto’s flourishing  latin music scene.

The 10 piece line-up also includes musicians such as drummer Frank Durand,
and bassist Riveron (Jane Bunnett) and percussionist Jaladan Ruiz from the
group Cafe Cubano.

You can check out the CBC Radio 2 recording of Telmary and Alberto debut
concert at Lula  Lounge on January 30th.
