Carlos Varela, Oct 18 at Lula

A hero of Cuba’s Nueva Trova movement, Carlos Varela sings of the reality of contemporary Cuban life. Varela’s first U.S. tour earlier this year included a presentation by Jackson Browne in Los Angeles and an invitation to perform at the Lincoln Center for the Arts. 

Our Cuban friends consider Carlos the Bob Dylan of Cuba, Cubans of his age group loved him as the spokesman in the same way as Bob Dylan was revered here.

Here he is with Los Van Van, Humo del Tren… I guess he is the Smoke… because Los Van Van is the Train !
