Featured at 10th Havana Film Festival in New York this is a love affair of two new immigrants to 19th Century Cuba.  A Haitian woman and German tradesman battle against the racist mores of the times.

Memorias de Subdesarollo (Memories of Underdevelopment. (1968) Dr. Tomas Gutierrez Alez

This 35 mm classic film is the story of a wealthy Cuban who chose to stay in Cuba following the 1959 Revolution.

La Edad de le Peseta (The Silly Age) 2005, Dir. Pavel Giroud

A beautiful film of the relationship between a “tween” boy and his grandmother set in pre and post revolutionary Cuba.

Kangamba (2008) Dir. Rogelio Paris

This an action packed adventure film about Cuba’s participation in the 1980’s war in Angola.  It tells the story of Cuban and Angolan fighters pinned down in the small town of Kangamba by UNITA troops and their South African/US overlords.
