Tiempo Libre, Ont Conservatory of Music, Feb 20

Tiempo Libre are Cuban-born and trained musicians of the highest order… now living in the USA.  They have made waves across the US and elsewhere in Canada mixing their music nicely with various symphony orchestras… as well as performing top-rate Cuban style dance music, also known as “timba”.  …(thanks Annette)

Finally someone in Toronto has figured out this is a good idea, and they are scheduled for Koerner Hall… at the Royal Conservatory of Music… on the coming February 20.

“This two-time Grammy-nominated timba band from Cuba delivers high-energy party music with rapid-fire lyrics, timba rhythms, and a full horn section – irresistibly danceable! “Their new CD, Bach in Havana, blends Bach melodies from pieces such as the Mass in B Minor and the Well-Tempered Clavier with infectious Cuban rhythms including the cha-cha-cha, the son and the danzon.” (NPR Music)”

There’ll be an after-party with DJ Billy Bryans… and you can trust this will feature strictly the música bailable… for dancing, naturally.
