@Steve Ungar
Good sentiments Steve, but I wouldn't expect much result this time.

You will meet many Cubans over the years who want to be sponsored... some will find someone, more won't. But of the few Canadians who sponsor, no-one is likely to chose this unknown lady over someone they know personally. But good luck... !

Hi there,
We have had a couple of fabulous vacations in Cuba. Lovely country, lovely people. We immigrated from Hungary 24 years ago, we have learned about Cuba. We have a lot of respect for Cuban people.
We met a lady at the airport in Varadero. Since she wrote to us and she is asking us for sponsorship for her to come to Canada to work. She is teaching dancing, english, speaks more languages. She sent us her resume. We are not in the position to offer sponsorship to her. Would you see any way in the Cuban community to find some help? I could send you her resume.

Please contact us with your ideas:

I supply donated racing bicycles to a small kid's cycling team in Banes Cuba, near Holguin. I rely on donated bicycles and equipment. To date I have equipped the team with 7 bikes and equipment. I have more bikes ready to send there and I need help getting them from Toronto to Cuba. I box all the bikes for shipment and the airlines take these as regular sporting goods luggage without any problems. I handle any extra costs. I am looking for people flying from Toronto to Holguin that can take a bike or two with them. It's a simple process as we have the team coach pick the bikes up at the resort. I can be contacted at 416-937-0095 or jeffsreid@rogers.com

“Los Quebecos Del Son”....
Through its ambiance and warm rhythms, “Los Québécos Del Son” will make you discover a music that is inspired in the “pure” Cuban tradition. The septet reproduces for its audience the energy that is found in the cafés of Old Havana, without having to board on a plane. On her return from her journey to Cuba, Rachel Therrien decided to integrate the flavour of traditional Cuban “Son” to her Quebecois culture. She has gone directly to the land where music is the lifeblood of the people to get her influences. The “Los Québécos Del Son” septet is a fine blend of cultures composed of 4 musicians from Quebec and 3 musicians originally from Cuba They all want to present you with music that is sunny and pure “Son”, a traditional Cuban style, precursor to Cuban Salsa, has never ceased to exist and continues to evolve. For this reason, “Los Quebecos Del Son” has as a goal to allow this style to evolve through our Nordic culture

« Los Quebecos Del Son »
and its repertoire of Traditional Cuban « Son » music
will make you travel to the heart of Havana!!!

Site Myspace Rachel Trumpet – correction texte anglais.
Hello, my name is Rachel. As you can see, I play trumpet.

The thing that I prefer the most in life is to Blow my horn! I'm studying right now in jazz interpretation at University of Montreal with the trumpet player Ron DiLauro.
I also passed 9 months in Cubastudying with great Cuban musicians such as: Chappotin, Yasek Manzano, Gorge Rubio,Emilio Del Monte and Robertico Garcia. And I played there with the afro-cuban jazz band of Rember Duharte in jazz festival of Havana, Cuban TV channels and normal shows.

I try to make my living out of Music by playing with artists or in bands :
Namori (www.namori.com), Tierra, Salam, Swing Connection House Band, Broken Nails, Bombolesse, Sylvie Chenard "Jazz Amerique"

I also do some studio recordings, teaching, and arranging. I enjoy traveling, learning new grooves and having great moments with new people like I just did with an afro beat band From New York named Kokolo (www.kolokoonline.com).

What I enjoy the most is to live new experiences like I did in the past years. With the University Big Band, I played with renowned artists like Michel Legrand, Klimax, Jean-Pierre Zanella, Ginette Reno, Oliver Jones, Remi Bolduc, and we had the experience of playing at the IAJE Jazz conference in 2008

I participated in a collective Band, Gogo Jungle, and some of you know that it is not easy to organise a new band, book shows, make a band known and everything else to make a band successful. This was not always happy, but I learned a lot with this 4 year experience !

For the next few years, I'll Concentrate on studying and practicing and playing with as many people as possible and eventually maybe start my own band... we'll see !
